STOVS is a

There are many needs at St. Thomas of Villanova School. Increasing student enrollment is a huge priority as are needed investments in building and grounds, repairs and maintenance, improving and upgrading technology, financial aid for deserving families and so much more. We want to give students the tools they need to succeed.


In 2013 STOVS will enjoy its 50th year of providing a quality education and life experience for its students. STOVS is a close-knit, faith based school family that prepares children to realize their dreams through an exceptional yet affordable education.

St. Thomas of Villanova School is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School by the Department of Education. Its students score in the top 13% nationally for Terra Nova Testing in grades 3-7. Graduates attend some of the best high schools in the area. Numerous graduates go on to qualify for advanced placement classes in high school and many are named either State Scholars or National Merit Scholars.


Terra Nova Test Scores:

St.Thomas of Villanova School uses the Terra Nova Testing Program, which provides the school with an assessment of students’ overall performance in the subject areas indicated on the chart below. Categories are aligned with both national and state learning standards. St. Thomas’s overall performance is summarized by the data listed in this chart.

The national median is defined as the performance level at which 50% of the students

tested across the nation are above and 50% of the students are below. A percentile

rating of 82 indicates that St. Thomas students on average did better than 82% of

the students tested across the nation. In summary, St. Thomas of Villanova School

continues to maintain very high academic performance in all subject areas tested.

This is truly a great achievement for St. Thomas of Villanova School.


This test allows teachers to evaluate each student’s knowledge and application skills

in the core academic subject areas of reading, language, mathematics, science and

social studies. This is the sixth consecutive year the Archdiocese of Chicago has

used the test.

We are proud of the fact that STOV graduates excel during their high school years.

To the right is a chart providing the last 3 years of high school honor roll rates for St. Thomas of Villanova School graduates. The average percentage of high school honor roll students in the last 3 years is 71%.

St. Thomas strives to prepare students for an ever-changing world through an

integrated curriculum. Students develop confidence and gain life skills in a

faith-based environment that fosters teamwork, decision making, and critical thinking.
